A wedding shower party is given just before the bride’s wedding ceremony. These showers are generally coordinated by the maid of honor and her close friends. The main objective for this party is to give the bride gifts she wants or needs for her new home with her husband. For this, gifts themes or wish lists are necessary.
Another thing that the maid of honor must look after of is to organize the guest list and formally invite them. But before you start inviting anyone, you must decide on the theme of the shower and how you are going to invite the people. The theme is up to your imagination. It could be Hawaiian, Indian, the 50’s, etc. But the wedding shower invitations depend on the size of the party.
If you want to throw a big party you should send out written invitations. If it’s a small get together you can invite the guests by phone. Never the less, written wedding shower invitations are a great idea because you can include a little map of the location and the wish list from the bride.
Be sure to include the bride’s name, where the shower will be held at, the date, your own name and phone number for any inconveniences, and the shower and gift theme. It is a good idea to send out the invitations at least two weeks before the party.
Some people like to make this party a surprise… but I recommend you not to do so. It could be a big embarrassment if you invite someone the bride didn’t want to, or the other way around; you forget someone the bride would have want to be there. You won’t be able to send out a wish list and there is a change that you choose a gift theme that the bride doesn’t like.
Just be sure to reflect the personality of the bride into the theme and invitations, and remember that these invitations have nothing to do with the wedding invitations.
