It’s wonderful to make your own wedding invitations. You don’t have to worry if a stationer will screw them up or not. Of course lots of work is ahead of you and you have to start right away to finish them, but you can build them as your like most.
If you don’t know where to start, try following these easy tips on how to write your invitations and have them and hand because they will prove to be helpful when experiencing a mind block.
- Decide if the wedding ceremony will be formal or informal.
- If you are having a small wedding write the notes by hand to make it more personal. On the other hand, if the wedding is big then using engraved writing might be easier for you to create. Use calligraphy to make it look fancy.
- Don’t use informal words like guest or family, on the contrary say ‘The honor of your presence’ or ‘The pleasure of your company’.
- Write down all of your guests names on the envelope to prevent confusions.
- List the bride’s name after the parent’s name and the groom’s name after the bride’s name.
- Write the date of your ceremony in words and not in numbers.
- Write down the location of your marriage place and full address. You might want to consider including a little map to prevent your visitors from getting lost.
- Include a self-addressed reply card.
- Mail in double envelopes. The inner envelope should feature the same theme as your invitation and should be in matching color. The outer envelope protects the inner envelope, the fancy one, and is gummed for sealing and addressing.
- Mail a save the date card up to one year before the wedding date to announce your ceremony and encourage recipients to plan for the event. Mention that an invitation will follow after the save the date.
